'You have to be joking': Worried Woman Finds Homeless "Hedgehog" and Cares for It Overnight, Only to Find Out That It's Not a Hedgehog at All

Picture this: You're walking on the street on your way home from work and something on the ground catches your eye. You stop and see an adorable fuzzy creature frozen in fear on the sidewalk. You can't pawssibly let this poor little thing stay out in the big, bad world all night, so you take it home, give it a bit of wet food, and decide to take it to the emergency vet in the morning. 

You wake up, and the poor critter (which you imagine to be a hedgehog) hasn't even touched its food. Naturally, you get a little more worried, so you get yourself together quickly at take it to the animal hospital. The veterinarian sees you in, starts to take a look at the little guy, and gives you a puzzled look. She says to you, 'Mam, this is just a bobble for your purse. A pom-pom.'     If it was late at night, we might also mistake this cute, fuzzy thing for a tiny animal in need of our help. However, we might have understood by picking it up that it was maybe too light to be an animal at all. But, that's just us.

    Dr Janet Kotze, who was the veterinarian on duty when the rescuer brought in the box containing the pom-pom, said she "couldn't believe what I was seeing". "I realised it wasn't animated at all, and I picked it up and obviously from the weight I could feel that it wasn't a hedgehog or any animal at all," Dr Kotze told the New York Post.

    Well, her heart was in the right place, and it's the thought that counts, right? She gets some good karma for at least attempting to take care of it. We can't imagine how silly we would feel though. Embarrassment level: 1,000,000.

    warriorautoglass I worked in pest control office before and a confused older woman came into the office with a box full of rocks and kept asking me if I see them moving and what kind of bugs they were.. I told her it's common gravel from a yard... she insisted they were not rocks and were jumping and moving and proceeded to go to her vehicle to get a microscope for me to "see" them. Can't make this stuff up. These kind of things only ever happen to me when I'm alone of course
